An ode to the pain we suffer:
expressing pain in written form can inspire and bring comfort.

by dr albert lim

During his workshop with cancer patients, relatives, carers and the bereaved, he often recite poem. some poem can bring comfort to those who are going through hard times. we are simply human, that need to deal with lost, mishaps and stuff. but this poem tell us, that we are not alone and should strive to be back on our feet and keep on moving forward for the better. its ok to be sad and morn about it, but we also have to break out of it. different people deal with it in their own ways. some might even take a longer time to recover. heres a sample of poem he recite during one of the workshop.

Funeral Blues

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He is Dead.
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now; put out every one,
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun,
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

Desperately looking for heroes
by: zainul ariffin

in this article, he mention about the trend of child development in Malaysia. they are all narrow down to education and less towards sport. if you ask me, don't bother if Malaysia didnt win a certain sporting competitions. because none of us is making a difference in it. i see the Thomas Cup Team kept or and other Malaysian sporting heroes getting bash up in the press as they got beaten while trying to strive for success.. that's why i hate watching sporting events so much. i do support them. but i rather participate in it to make a difference..

No wonder 'we are fast approaching becoming an obese nation especially among kids'. it is said that the percentage of hand and eye coordination among children has lowered down. only eye and thumb coordination is more significant (thanks to texing and also video games)

other nations are going all out in sport. the give sponsorship, scholarships, loan or even pension towards athletes. kids in kindergarten in Australia are expose to Olympic heroes like Michael Phelps and others. this is the spirit and support to give towards kids. at least they could succeed in those god given talent that being blessed upon them. but instead, dreams are crush as they are no future in them. so they turn to drugs, snatch thief and such.

"our sports must also be revenue and employment generators. we need to be able to reward those who tried but fail, as well as offer our retired sportsmen an honorable opportunity to contribute beyond their playing days'

sports enhance leadership skills, social skills, fair play, and even DISCIPLINE....! something that i see lacking in people this time around. it simply makes us proactive.

As politic tears us into groups and idolization of a certain leaders, sports unite us. regardless who is playing. When we win, we all are shared the joy, regardless skin colours, political stands and even social backgrounds. we become 1 nation. Malaysia...!

well that summarized what has been written a a dash of my own view. till next Sunday. hahahhaha.... i hope..
